Learn About Open Hearth Cooking with Our Les Mains Guidées Workshop

The Vermilionville Living History Museum and Folklife Park is continuing to host monthly workshops that will allow you to learn crafts from our master artisans. On the first Saturday of every month, we will highlight a different craft from the old Acadian, Creole, and Native American ways of life. Topics will range from woodcarving to textiles to foodways and many things in between.

On June 4th from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 pm, Vermilionville artisan Em LeMieux will offer a workshop on open hearth cooking. In this hands-on class, participants will learn about how to properly use a dutch oven as well as how to apply open hearth techniques to a modern setting. Registration is limited to 5 participants.

You must be registered in advance to participate -- click here to purchase your ticket. You will leave the class with your own dutch oven, the meal you've prepared (Creole jambalaya), and recipes to continue your practice. Cost is $45, or, $15 if you provide your own dutch oven.
